The Black Prairie Mudcats got the maximum from only seven hits as they defeated the Bay Springs Bobcats 18-3 on Tuesday night at BNA Bank Park.
The Mudcats picked up two runs in the top of the first as leadoff batter Karah Stephenson walked and later scored on Abby Pitts’ RBI double.
Pitts would score on the RBI single of Sydni Lewis of New Albany to put the lead at 2-0.
The Mudcats scored four runs in the second as a walk to Karley Robbins, another single by Stephenson and Pitts was hit by pitch loaded the bases for Lewis.
Lewis drove in all three base runners with her triple Kayla Lewis’ RBI improved the score to 6-0.
The Bobcats picked up a run in the bottom of the inning as Macy Moorehead from New Albany walked with the bases loaded and was credited with the RBI. The team added two more in the bottom of the third using a walk, and two errors to narrow the margin to 7-3.
The wheels fell off for the Bobcats defensively in the fourth, with seven errors giving 11 runs for the Mudcats despite having two hits in the frame.
Lewis had three hits and eight RBIs. Mattie Pilcher of West Union had a hit and RBI.
