Northside Baptist Revival
The Northside Baptist Church revival will be held Monday, November 11th through Friday November 15th. Bro. Verlon Wood will be preaching and Bro. Donald Tallent will be leading in the music. Bro. Terry Rodgers, Pastor.
‘Southern Comfort’ returns to Old Liberty this week
The Southern Comfort Show will be at Old Liberty School southeast of New Albany Saturday, Nov. 2, playing country and gospel music from 7 until 9 p.m. Everyone is welcome and the event is free.
Annual Calvary Methodist barbecue will be Saturday
The annual Calvary United Methodist Church barbecue supper will be this Saturday, Nov. 2, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Plates are $8.00. The church is at 113 Hwy. 15 N. beside the high school.
First Choice Center to hold fund-raiser
First Choice Center for Women will be having its 3rd Annual Silent Auction fun-draiser on Nov. 14 at the New Albany Presbyterian Church from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. New this year will be a holiday market with craft vendors as well as BBQ plates. The BBQ plates can be eaten in or taken out. Tickets for the BBQ are $10 and may be purchased at the Center (534-7061) or on the night of the event.
County-wide adult rally planned
The county-wide senior adult rally will be at the Ladies’ Building at the Union County fairground on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 10:00 a.m. Meats and drinks will be provided but covered dishes will be needed. The program will be provided by several local personalities.
Union County Retired Education Personnel of Mississippi meeting
The November meeting of the Union County Retired Education Personnel of Mississippi (REPM) will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 10:00 a.m. in the community room at BNA Bank in New Albany. The program speaker will be REPM State President Mrs. Linda Norwood. All past and current members are encouraged to attend. A special invitation is extended to anyone retired from the education system to attend. Anyone who has questions may call 662-534-6919 or 662-988-2223.
Rabies vaccine clinic set in Pontotoc
Pontotoc County will host a rabies vaccine clinic at the Off the Square Market located behind First National Bank on Saturday, Nov. 9, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.Vaccines will be $5 each. This event is in coordination with Mississippi Department of Animal Health.
Ripley to host fly-in and car show
The second Annual Lemuel May Fly-In and Car Show will be held Nov. 2 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Ripley Municipal Airport on Hwy 4, two miles west of Ripley.
Tupelo Arts Showcase to be held Nov. 16
The Tupelo Arts Showcase will be Nov. 16 at7:00 p.m. at the Link Centre in Tupelo. This is even is free to the public and is sponsored by the Tupelo Civic Ballet Co. In addition to The Civic Ballet Co performing, other guest artists will be Shandy Phillips – Julliard, violinist and composer from the MSU Philharmonic; Glenn Payne, painter and film producer from Blue Spring; Rebecca Jernigan and Wendy Garrison, story tellers from Oxford; visual artists include: Shawn Whittington, Fine Art Instructor for ICC; Sylvain Chamberlain, exhibitionist at Gumtree Museum; and studio owner Charlie Buckley.
Tupelo Theatre sets auditions
Auditions for Tupelo Community Theatre’s production of Duck Hunter Shoots Angel, by Mitch Albom, will be Sunday, Nov. 17, at 6:00 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m. The cast is made up of seven men, one woman and one teenage girl 15-18 years old. No advance preparation needed. Maria Geno will direct. Auditions will take place at 213 East Franklin Street. Production dates are Jan. 30, 31 and Feb. 1. First Choice to have benefit holiday market, auction
Kick off your holiday shopping at the 3rd annual First Choice Silent Auction and Holiday Market showcasing vendor booths from area merchants Nov. 14 at the New Albany Presbyterian Church on Hwy 15 South. Admission is free. The event will last from 4-8 p.m. BBQ plates will be sold for $10 each; carry-out plates are available. Presale tickets can be purchased from staff, volunteers and board members. Grief Support Groups
Amedisys Hospice currently offers three grief support groups throughout its service area. Booneville Support Group- meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in the auditorium of the George E. Allen Library. New Albany Support Group- meets every 2nd Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the New Albany First United Methodist Church. Tupelo Support Group- begins January 18, 2011, and a set date will be announced. These groups are open to the public and are free of charge. You are welcome at any meeting that Amedisys Hospice offers. Drug and Alcohol Recovery Meetings
“Pathway To Freedom” is a drug and alcohol recovery program sponsored by The Church of Acts. Meetings are free and are held every Sunday and Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. The “Pathway To Freedom” meetings started in 2005 and have been meeting for the past eight years.
