West Union’s Lady Eagles wrapped up their quest for a division title, defeating Ingomar’s Lady Falcons on Thursday in a 5-4 final.
The win gives West Union an undefeated run for the 2013 campaign, while eliminating Ingomar from thie playoffs as they fall to the number three spot behind Myrtle’s Lady Hawks.
West Union plated the firt runs of the game in the bottom of the first, a double and an error at first base putting Gracen Conlee, Brittany Taylor and Jesslyn Brewer home.
Ingomar added two runs of its own, earned after three hits and a walk, in the second inning before the Eagles struck with two more runs – base hits from Callie Baggett and Brittany Taylor earning the RBIs.
Both teams were unable to convert hits into runs inside the third, though Ingonar added two runs in the fourth with singles from Gara Beth Self and Maggie Smithey putting the Falcons in striking distance at 5-4.
Retiring in order for both sides in the fifth and sixth inning, the Falcons fell just short of mounting a comeback.
The Falcons won again Friday in an 11-0 defeat of Jumpertown, including a three run homer from Brittany Taylor.
New Albany added two wins to its total, defeating Belmont 12-11 after entering the seventh inning down 10-7.
The Bulldogs also topped Holly Springs 13-3.
Ingomar will celebrate Senior night Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Shannon.
