For the second time in a week, Myrtle and Ingomar girls played a tough contest that resulted in the Lady Falcons pulling away in the second half, this time for a 53-37 win.
Opening the 2013 Union County Tournament at Memorial Gym, the Lady Falcons created some distance, going on an 11-0 run beginning in the first quarter, going ahead 15-8. The Lady Hawks made it a two-point game at the break, trailing 20-18, and Geneshia Montgomery tied the game at 20 at the beginning of the third quarter. Myrtle remained close until late in the third, as the Lady Falcons used an 11-5 run to close the frame leading, 40-29.
Reid Little led all scorers with 19 points for the Lady Falcons, followed by 12 points from both Heather Dillard and Hannah Russell. Myrtle had three players finish with 10 points, Montgomery, Meshay Cox and Stephanie Floyd.
With the win, Ingomar will play top-seeded West Union at 5 p.m. on Friday.

The Falcons put away its first round opponent in the UCT behind a game-high 33 points from Henry Foster.
Foster scored six straight points to open the game, prompting an early timeout from the Eagles. The senior had 14 points in the frame and 24 at the half, where the Hawks led, 47-28.
Two more Falcons scored in double digits, Terrance Gillard and Casey Rorie, each with 10 points. Chase Taylor led the Eagles with 14 points, followed by 12 points from Hunter Jennings.
Ingomar advances to play top-seeded East Union at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
New Albany 66 East Union 25 (girls)
The Lady Bulldogs advanced to the UCT championship for the eighth consecutive year after a 41-point win over the Lady Urchins.
New Albany opened the game, scoring the first seven points from Jazmine Spears and Erin Michael Carter. Ashley Leach cut the deficit to five, 9-4, but between Spears and Carter, the duo scored 19 of New Albany’s 22 first quarter points, giving the Lady Bulldogs the 22-7 advantage.
The Lady Bulldogs outscored East Union, 18-8, in the second quarter and 24-10 in the second half to advance to Saturday’s championship game.
Spears led all scorers with 20 points, followed by 14 from Carter. Leach was the top scorer for East Union, finishing with nine points.
