Musical ‘Annie’ coming back to New Albany

New Albany High School will present “Annie” for their annual school musical on February 8 at 7:30 p.m.; February 9 at 7:30 p.m.; and February 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the NAHS Auditorium.  Reserved Tickets are available for $10 and General Admission is $8.  Call New Albany High School at 662-534-1805 for ticket information.

Springtime at Concord Inn

The New Albany Garden Club will be hosting a tour of the home, gardens, and historic buildings at the Concord Inn located in New Albany May 4.  Floral arrangements and refreshments will be provided by New Albany Garden Club members.  The cost is $10 and all proceeds benefit ongoing garden club projects.  For more information or to order tickets please contact springtimeatconcordinn@gmail.com, or call 662-507-1774 or 662-316-2689.

Liberty School January meeting

Liberty school will have a January 26 meeting and covered-dish dinner Saturday, January 26, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by a group from Oxford and Nashville. Everyone is welcome.

Union County Master Gardeners’ Training Course
A Master Gardener training class is being offered from Feb. 12 until March 21 each Tuesday and Thursday at the Union County Extension Office. If you are interested in becoming a Union County Master Gardener, please contact Lisa James at 534-6868, for more information.  Deadline for registering is Jan. 18.  This is described as a wonderful opportunity to learn more about gardening, meeting new people with similar interests and a great way to become more involved in your community.

Search for Truth Bible Study
Pastor Charlie Ganey will teach a special “Search for Truth” Bible Study each Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the Church of Acts. This group is geared especially for young adults. However anyone wishing to enhance their understanding of the Bible with this panoramic view of both the Old and New Testament is invited to attend. Certificates will be given at the end of the course for those who do not miss more than two classes. Classes meet in the prayer room on the west side of the building.

The House of Music in Ecru will present dance music by The Real Country Band and The Backporch Gang every Friday night from 7 – 10 p.m. Smoke and alcohol free. $3 cover charge. For more info (662) 296-8221

Country music and dancing at Music Country – Family Tradition & Friends will be Jan. 5, from 5:00 until 10:00 p.m. Located in the old Lakeside Grocery at 112 CR 331, Alpine community. 662-871-5111. $5.00 admission. No alcohol allowed.

Drug and alcohol recovery meetings summer schedule changes
The Church of Acts Drug and Alcohol recovery meetings will be held each Sunday and Monday at 6:00 p.m. There are no dues or fees. The only requirement is a desire to stop the addictions. “Pathway to Freedom” uses a conjoined method of Twelve Step study and Spiritual applications from the Bible. Members who are in recovery share their experience, strength and hope with new comers and those who continue to struggle with their addiction. Anger Management classes may be scheduled by contacting Pastor Charlie Ganey at 266-3546. The Church is located at 1041 CR 326, which is the first road North of J & J Grocery at Ingomar.

Grief Support Groups
Amedisys Hospice currently offers three grief support groups throughout its service area. Booneville Support Group- meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in the auditorium of the George E. Allen Library. New Albany Support Group- meets every 2nd Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the New Albany First United Methodist Church. Tupelo Support Group- begins January 18, 2011, and a set date will be announced. These groups are open to the public and are free of charge. You are welcome at any meeting that Amedisys Hospice offers.
