Ingomar takes weekend wins over Myrtle

Despite several miscues early in the game, the Lady Falcons picked up a win over county rival Myrtle, 56-31, last Friday.

“We need to make better decisions,” Ingomar coach Trent Adair said. “We have seniors, who sometimes make youthful mistakes, and we have to get out of that. I don’t think we made a lot of good decisions in this game.”

Ingomar trailed the Lady Hawks early in the game before Kate Webb put the Lady Falcons on top, 7-5. Leading 12-5 late in the frame, Meshay Cox scored four straight points, and Amber Cook hit a three to tie the game at 12 heading into the second.

The game was tied once more at 14, but the Lady Falcons outscored Myrtle, 13-5, to take a 25-17 lead at the break. Webb had 14 points at the break and finished with 16 points before an injury in the third quarter.

Ingomar outscored Myrtle 31-14 in the second half to pick up the win. Heather Dillard had 14 points for Ingomar, and Meshay Cox led Myrtle with 14 points.

Myrtle fell 43-23 at East Union on Saturday. Cox had 14 points for the Lady Hawks.

The first quarter saw several lead changes, with the Hawks leading 11-9 before the Falcons scored the final five points of the quarter to lead, 15-11.

Myrtle’s last lead was at 17-14 after Keon Hampton hit back-to-back three-pointers. That was followed by a three-pointer from LaQuain Foster to give the Falcons the lead, which they held for the remainder of the game.

Hampton and Robert Montgomery each had 28 points for Myrtle, while Henry Foster led Ingomar with 23 points, followed by LaQuain Foster with 20 points and Devonte Williamson with 12 points.
