Ida Beatrice Goode Spencer, 94, of New Albany, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011 at Union County Health and Rehab in New Albany.
She was born March 12, 1917 in Benton County to the late Wilburn Franklin Goode and Lena Belle Whiteside Goode. She was a retired cafeteria worker for Myrtle Attendance Center. She was an active member of the Myrtle United Methodist Church for over fifty years. She taught the Willing Workers Sunday School Class for many years, a choir member, a UMW member, and served in various church offices. She was very civic minded, member of Myrtle Library Friends, and treasurer of Candy Hill Cemetery Fund. She was the Town Clerk for Myrtle for many years. She was a renowned cook especially butterscotch pies.
Services were at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 at the Myrtle United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Lawrence, Rev. Nathan Hodum, and Rev. Earl McAnally officiating. Interment was in the Candy Hill Cemetery. United Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara Little (Benny) of New Albany, her son Pat Gray Spencer III (Judye) of Germantown, Tenn., a brother Curtis L. Goode (June) of Lakeland, Tenn., four grandchildren Timmy Little (Mary Morgan) and Dana Jumper (Greg) both of New Albany, Jeff Spencer and Ashley McGaw both of Germantown, Tenn., and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Pat Gray Spencer, Jr., an infant son, and two brothers.
Pallbearers were Will Jumper, Greg Jumper, Skip Goode, Scott Goode, and Dennis Spencer.
Visitation was from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday at Myrtle United Methodist Church.
