Nationally ranked Freed-Hardeman took a pair of opening-season league wins from Blue Mountain College here Thursday night.
The Lions dropped the Toppers 74-62 in the nightcap after FHU took the women’s contest 93-58 over BMC. It was the TranSouth Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Kyle Teichman scored 23 points to lead the NAIA No. 25 Lions (9-6, 1-0). Ken Bingham had 14 points, Cedric Austin had 12 and Reginald Gilmore had 10.
For the Toppers, (6-8, 0-1), Jarvis Fisher had 18 points and DeVanté Pulliam had 12.
In the women’s game, TSAC leading scorer Meribeth Boehler poured in 31 lead No. 6 Freed-Hardeman (12-3, 1-0) to their fourth straight win. Maria Bagwell and Natalie Shumpert each had 14 for FHU.
For BMC (4-8, 0-1), Jordan McCormick scored 12 points, Joy Pierce had 11 and Erin Parrish and Anna Lisa Powell each had 10.
Blue Mountain travels to Nashville on Saturday to take on Trevecca Nazarene, while Freed-Hardeman hits the road to Lebanon, Tenn., to play Cumberland.
