Both East Union and New Albany are in full swing for fast pitch softball, as the Lady ‘Dawgs are 3-0 and the Lady Urchins won their season opener last week.
East Union defeated Potts Camp in their first game of the year last Thursday, winning 10-7.
The Lady Cardinals tied the game in the third at 2-2 and both teams posted three runs each in the fifth.
East Union took the lead in the top of the sixth, scoring four runs, and the Lady Urchins tacked on an insurance run in the seventh to secure the win.
Alle Haynie was the winning pitcher for East Union. Heather Dillard had three hits on the day with a double and triple. Sunnie Knighton also recorded multiple hits, including two triples. Stephanie Dillard, Amy McCullough and Chelsea Kuhn also had multiple hits.
East Union will next be in action versus Potts Camp on Thursday.
The Lady Bulldogs picked up three wins last week to start their season undefeated.
After defeating Water Valley in extra innings last Monday, the Lady ‘Dawgs took down Baldwyn and Ripley in the Corinth Tournament last Saturday.
Rebecca Taylor picked up her first win, while Brooke Sides recorded her second of the year.
Sides, also connected on a double, while Jalanna Cameron had a double and a homerun in the 14-8 win over Baldwyn.
Tootie Jones had multiple hits, including a double, and Ellen Terrance hit a double in the winning effort.
Sides’ win came in an 11-2 decision versus Ripley in five innings.
Amber Mirfield hit a triple, while Jones had three hits on the day.
New Albany will be in action this week, traveling to West Union on Tuesday and Belmont on Friday.
