On Saturday, May 17, there was a gospel singing at Macedonia Baptist to raise money for the Dig a Well Project in Uganda. An orphanage has been built in Uganda for little babies. This singing raised money for a well to be built on the orphanage property. Singing in the program were “His Light”, “Rocky Ford String Band”, Dawn Hearn, Bubba Higgins, Bethany Gordon, Pam Rhea Simpson, and Gerald Fitzpatrick. Souled Out performed. The gospel singing was a success, and we appreciate all those who had a part in this worthy endeavor. “Give a cup of water in the Master’s name.” Matthew 10:42

On Saturday afternoon Lou and Larry McQuary hosted a baby shower for Nicole (Jack)McQuary and Nikki Maier (Jerry)Gore. Both family members are expecting babies this summer. It will be Nicole and Jack’s third girl and Nikki and Jerry’s third boy. We told them they just needed to swap babies so they would each have at least one boy and at least one girl. Nicole and Nikki agreed they had rather keep their own!! Out of town guests were Judy and Gary McQuary of Woodland, Veedie Gaines of Senatobia, Debra Gordon of Buchanan, and Sharon Gore of Sherman. Many friends and family also joined in the celebration.

Chase Bogue is the son of Jeremy and Shonda Bogue and also attends West Union. He plans to attend college. West Union’s graduation is Friday, May 23, at 8 pm.

Bro. Bert delivered an inspiring message from Matthew 25 on the servant who hid his talent in the earth. He encouraged the graduates to be faithful to God, learn to live in an imperfect world, be aware of the devil’s attempt to steer them away from God’s will, and to not let fear of failure keep them from doing what God asks them to do. Each graduate had a table in the foyer that was filled with pictures and awards. It was very interesting to see each graduate’s table and what made them unique.

Noel Long, daughter of Melissa and Chris Long, graduated Saturday, May 18, from ICC in Business and Finance. She plans to continue her education completing online courses from a university. Thad Moody, son of Vickie (Ray) Brock and Ricky Moody, graduated from MSU Friday, May 17 in Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture. Sunday Terry Foley was back at Macedonia. His chemotherapy has been bringing his count back into normal ranges. We are all very grateful!!

Thought for the week: A silent hug means a thousand words to an unhappy heart.
