Hawks use second half run to down Eagles

Myrtle boys found themselves on the short end of a 22-20 score at the half against West Union, but the Hawks’ shots started to fall in the third and fourth quarter.

Myrtle outscored the Eagles 39-23 in the second half to take the 59-45 win.

Dee Johnson and Lavon Kiddy paced the Hawks with 17 and 11 points respectively.

Hunter Jennings was the lone West Union scorer in double figures with 14.

West Union raced out to an early first quarter lead of 29-9 and cruised to a 65-38 win in the girls’ game.

West Union placed four players in double figures and were led by Julianna Garner’s 27 points.

Other leading scorers included: Marley Long 14, Gracen Conlee 12 and Brittany Taylor 10.

Myrtle was led by Ivory Montgomery’s 19 points. West Union improved to 15-7 with the win.

West Union will host Hickory Flat on Friday and Myrtle will travel to Ashland.
