Visitors from several states will descend on New Albany this Saturday for the 28th annual Mississippi on Wheels Charity Car Show.
Car enthusiasts, mechanics, restoration specials and just people looking for something interesting to do will converge on the area around the Union County Courthouse for the event.
This year the Lions Club of New Albany has joined in as a sponsor and will be offering sight screenings at the show as part of the club’s mission of promoting eye health.
Last year 170 cars were on display at the show, and Alan Cousar, one of the organizers, said the event draws from a wide area because it is held in the fall:
“It’s not so hot outside and people can stand and talk ‘car talk’ while enjoying downtown New Albany.”
Cars can be registered from 7:30 a.m. to noon and trophies are presented at 3:30 p.m. Door prizes are given out throughout the event and concessions are provided by Glenfield Baptist Church.
In addition to a good time, the event benefits several local groups including the Gazette’s Sharing at Christmas fund, the New Haven Center for Special Needs, the Lions Club and the First Choice Center for Women.
If you enjoy cars, put downtown New Albany on your Saturday schedule for the car show.
