Gene Ash, 72, of Potts Camp, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at Baptist Memorial-North Mississippi in Oxford.
He was born Feb. 22, 1941, in Marshall County to James Guy Ash and Maggie Pearl Roach Ash. He was a logger and U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam.
Services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Holly Springs Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Adair officiating. Burial was in Ashbury Cemetery in Waterford. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Lou Ash of Potts Camp; three sons, the Rev. Faron Ash of Potts Camp, David Ash of Ashland and Derek Ash of Potts Camp; five daughters, Phyllis Gray of Ashland, Janice Sue Cocke of Atway, Violet Marie Whitehead of Ashland, Candy Sue Ash of Potts Camp and Amanda Ford of Whiteville, Tenn.; seven brothers, Henry Ash, Ricky Ash, Lonnie Ash, Mikey Ash, Danny Ash and Jody Swinford, all of Potts Camp and Jackie Ash of New Albany; two sisters, Bonnie Ash of Memphis and Sue Bolden of Holly Springs; one half-sister, Christine Hatchett of Waterford; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; four half-sisters; and four half-brothers.
