The West Union Lady Eagles went undefeated Saturday and took the 2013 Union County Softball Champion title.
The Eagles put in a 4-0 run during the day, defeating Ingomar 7-1, Myrtle 1-0, and New Albany 4-3 before a 2-0 win over East Union to take hone the trophy.
“It was really a good day defensively,” Head Coach Lisa Bogue said, “They had to rally together to win against New Albany in order to play in the final and I think that gave them the extra push that they needed for this game.”
The two runs came in the first inning, where an RBI single from Julianna Garner placed Brittany Taylor across home plate.
Two batters later, Chase Coffey’s fielders choice placed Bailey Bogue home before a pop-up closed the inning.
The Lady Urchins managed one hit in three innings, logged by Callie Frazier, as the Eagles defense continued to work.
East Union takes the runner-up title after wins over Ingomar 11-5, and New Albany 5-1.
Savannah Alexander logged a three-run homer for the Urchins against Ingomar, while the ladies lost their opening game to Myrtle in a 7-4 final.
