Making way for hospital expansion
Workers demolished the former Baptist Memorial Hospital educational building and nearby former office of Dr. H. F. Mason Friday to prepare for the construction of the $12.3-million emergency room scheduled to break ground next month. The blue building was built in the 1970s and has been home to many of New Albany’s physicians before they moved into their own buildings. The new ER will be east of the present emergency room and will cover the present physicians’ parking area. New ER parking will be where the buildings were demolished.
