Liberty School December meeting

Twenty-seven were in attendance for the Dec. 18 meeting of Liberty School. Ms. Lil Grisham welcomed the attendees and E. M. “Boots” Herring gave the invocation and blessing prior to the covered-dish dinner.

In the business session Joanne Gaines gave the secretarial report from the Nov. 20 meeting. The December birthday of Jean Roberts Herring was recognized. The December wedding anniversaries of Jewel Langford and Fleet Rowan and Carolyn Huffstatler and Bill Wigington were also recognized. The school fund provided a number of fruit baskets to be delivered to former students.

The evening activities included a cake walk and auction. E. M. “Boots” Herring read the Christmas story from Luke 2. Glenda Alexander, Carol Butler, Peggy Davidson, Sarah Farris, and Pat Wooley sang several Christmas carols.

Get-well wishes were extended to Hermie Cobb, Ruby Lee Dunlap, Lucille Fitzgerald, and Rose Marie Robbins Hall. Sympathy is extended to the families of Devon Freeman and Jimmy Heard.

The regular January meeting and covered-dish dinner will be Tuesday, Jan. 15, beginning at 6:00 p.m. There will be a second January meeting and covered-dish dinner on Saturday the 76th beginning at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will feature a musical group with members from Oxford and Nashville. Everyone is welcome to both meetings.
