Tallahatchie and North Delta faced off for the first time this season Tuesday night, and a two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh by the Dealers eventually led to the two team’s ending in a tie, 3-3.
Down 3-1 with two outs and runners on second and third, Jeremy Carlisle hit a two-run double to send the game to an extra inning.
Both teams left a runner stranded in the eighth to finish tied.
North Delta recorded the game’s first hit, but it was the Rascals that scored first, going ahead 1-0 off three hits in the fourth. Josh Chism followed his one-out single by stealing second and third, scoring on Evan Frazier’s single.
The Rascals later added runs in the sixth and seventh off a sacrifice by Chism that plated Hunter Mize and John Jordan scored off an error to give Tallahatchie the 3-1 lead.
North Delta’s one run at that point came in the sixth off an RBI single by Landan Cloud. Cloud and Brent Langston led the Dealers with two hits each.
Beau Cummings started on the mound for the Rascals, throwing three innings and allowing one hit with one strikeout.
Daymon Eriksen, Chism and Parker James each pitched one inning each with James allowing the Dealers’ first run and Chism striking out three. Mize allowed the two runs in the seventh to tie the game in the seventh.
The two teams will face each other again this Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The Rascals (1-1-1) are also slated for a 6 p.m. game Saturday night against the Tippah County Tribe.
