Hello, Ingomar fans! It’s been another great week at Ingomar High School, and there is a lot to hear about!
First, Ingomar High School students in Mrs. Roben Denton’s English III and English IV classes participated in the Tallahatchie Riverfest writing competition. Students wrote first person narrative essays based on a gardening memory or an outdoor memory. The following Ingomar students captured all winning positions in the writing competition:
First Place: Lauren Langston, 12th grade for “Childhood Memories”
Second Place: Jay Knight, 12th grade for “Church Meeting”
Third Place: Clara Watson, 11th grade for “My Oasis”
Honorable Mention: Stephen Laird, 11th grade for “Grandma’s House”
The winners of the competition are going to be recognized this Friday the twenty-fourth at the Magnolia Civic Center auditorium. All juniors and seniors will be there to support them, as well as listen to guest speaker Feld Rushing. Ingomar appreciates the work of the UCDA and its literary competition director Mrs. Anna Quinn.
This past Friday, bothe the second and the fifth grade students enjoyed Pioneer Day at the Union County Heritage Museum. Thanks to the museum coordinators for the fun filled learning experience.
Ingomar’s elementary beauty revue will be held on Friday, October the first, and the junior high and high school beauty revue will be on the following day, Saturday, October the second in Ingomar’s auditorium. Admission is $4.00. All proceeds go toward the Yearbook staff. This year’s yearbook sponsors are Mrs. Tabithat Dillard and Mrs. Amy Bishop.
Recently the student body voted on the Homecoming Court. Homecoming will be held on December the tenth. The King and Queen will not be announced until that evening’s ceremony. Congratulations to the following selected maids and escorts:
Maids: Lauren Langston, Bailey Littlejohn, Anna McCutchen, Lakin Potts, and Kayla Stevens.
Escorts: Austin Gregory, Jon Logan Little, Tanner McCollum, Kensey Stout, and Seth Taylor.
In Ingomar sports, Cross Country had another great run on Sept. 18 at Saltillo, and will run again on Sept. 25 in the Tallahatchie River Run in New Albany.
Ingomar Lady Falcons had another softball game on Sept. 21 against Houlka at Ingomar starting with JV at 5 p.m. The team played again on Sept. 23 against Smithville starting with JV at 5 p.m. The following week they will have Senior Night at Ingomar against North Pontotoc with JV at 5 p.m.
The Union County football team played Belmont at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 21. Good luck to all the teams!
