William “Bill” Carl Tate, 77, of New Albany, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010 at his residence.
He was born Sept. 4, 1932 in New Albany to the late Carl Lee Tate and Laura Griffith Tate. He was retired employee of the New Albany City Schools. He was a Mason, a member of the New Albany Civitan Club, and the Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Service were at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 2010 at the United Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Dean Timbes, Dr. Kermit McGregor, and the Rev. Creighton White officiating. Interment was in the Vista Memorial Park with graveside Masonic services. United Funeral Service in New Albany was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife Yvonne Tate, three daughters Janice Young (Tony), Jewel Rushing (David), and Jane Smith (Jeff), two sons Jerry Tate (Beverly), and Curtis Tate (Robbye), two brothers Robert Tate and Richard Tate, eleven grandchildren Shelly George, Leigh Tate, Baylee Welch, Gray Welch, William Rushing, Sam Rushing, Madeline Rushing, Jillian Tate, Jenna Tate, Roman Smith, and Nicholas Smith, and a great grandson Caleb George.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Thomas Tate.
Pallbearers were Josh George, William Rushing, Sam Rushing, Gray Welch, Tony Young, Jeff Smith, and David Rushing. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends at the coffee shop.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church’s Building Fund.
Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
