One dead, one injured in early morning shooting

An early Wednesday morning shooting in the Poolville Community left one dead and one injured, Union County Sheriff Tommy Wilhite said.

Wilhite said that deputies responded to a call from 1035 County Road 56 at approximately 3:30 a.m.

“We called in a crime unit from the Highway Patrol to help conduct the investigation at the scene,” Wilhite said.

As of 10:17 a.m., Wilhite said they were wrapping up the collection of evidence at the home.

“At this time we cannot release a motive or the identities of the victim and injured man because families have not yet been notified,” Wilhite said.

The man who was injured had been taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-New Albany.
