East Union watched their season come to end on Tuesday and Thursday, as the Lady Urchins were defeated by Hickory Flat, 62-42 and the Urchins 65-45 to Ashland on Wednesday.
In the Wednesday match-up, the Blue Devils jumped to a 7-0 lead with the help of two Urchin turnovers. A triple by Chris Tables and a basket by Gareth Pannell brought East Union back before Darius Dukes and Ashland took over in the second quarter.
Ahead 15-10 at the beginning of the second frame, Dukes scored four triples, 12 of the Blue Devils 22 points with Ashland taking the 37-19 lead to halftime.
Maintaining the lead throughout the third, Tables and Pannell would try to mount a comeback in the final quarter, but Ashland would use the free throw line to seal the win.
Pannell led East Union with 17 points, while Tables added 13.
Dukes finished with 22 points for Ashland, while Jeremy Williams and Silas Fifer each had 10 points.
The Lady Urchins had three players score in double figures, but they could not overcome the Lady Rebs in their loss on Tuesday.
Leading 24-15 at the half, Hickory Flat scored 38 second half points to end East Union’s season.
Sunnie Knighton led the East Union with 12 points, followed by Carly Mahon with 11 and Tasha Graham with 10 points.
Kayla Kolivas led the Lady Rebels with 19 points, while Sholonda Reynolds added 16 and Courtney Martin 10 points.
Hickory Flat will play Walnut on Thursday.
