Ingomar used their strength down low to top the Rebels, 65-57 Saturday night. With the help of Zach Carnell, the senior had 14 points for the Falcons and could have done more damage if not for foul trouble.
Hickory Flat opened with the 17-15 advantage, as Henry Bell had a three pointer at the buzzard to lift the Rebs at the end of the quarter. Ingomar responded with a 24-point second quarter, led by Purvis’ eight points and a three by Tyler Jarvis.
With a 15-point lead at the half, Ingomar watched as Carnell took a seat until the final quarter as he picked up his fourth foul. The same problem plagued the Rebels, as Caleb Van Tassell made an early exit in the third, fouling out with only two points and five rebounds.
The Rebels back into the game to cut the Falcons’ lead to only eight after the third.
Matt Purvisl stepped up for Ingomar in the final quarter, with seven points to stop Hickory Flat’s rally and give the Falcons the win.
Carnell finished with 18, along with Terry Lee for the Rebels. Zavion Adams had 12 for Hickory Flat, while Timothy Tatum had 11.

A pair of three’s by Kayla Kolivas was what the Lady Rebels needed to lift them over the Lady Falcons.
Down 29-24 in the third, Kolivas rolled off four straight points to cut the deficit to only one, and the Lady Rebs took the 30-29 lead after a buzzard shot by Samantha Bias.
Hickory Flat carried that momentum into the final period, as their defense held Ingomar to only five points in both of the final quarters, while Kolivas and Bias each had five points to secure the win for the Lady Rebels.
Kayla Stevens had 19 for Ingomar to lead all scorers, while Kolivas finished with 15.
Ingomar will play at New Albany and host Pine Grove and North Pontotoc this week, while Hickory Flat will take on the Vikings and play at the West Union Round Robin this weekend.
