Brenda Carolyn Thompson Crumpton 56 , of New Albany, Ms, died Friday July 10, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis, Tenn.
She was born in Union County on December 1, 1952, to the late Erskin Thompson and Gara Herring Thompson. She was an employee of Piper Impacts in the past. She enjoyed the outdoors, and loved spending time with her grandkids and watching game shows on television. She was a member of Neely Baptist Church.
Services were Monday July 13, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in United Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Jason Pilcher and Bro. Kenny Adair officiating, Interment was in Vista Memorial Park. United Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years Jimmy (Leon) Crumpton of New Albany; three daughters Shelly Tanner (B. J.), Larrie Hogue (Gerald) nnd Brandi Crumpton all of New Albany; three brothers, Elgin Thompson (Carolyn) of Hickory Flat, James (Tody) Thompson (Lucy) of Sherman and Joe Thompson of New Albany; five Grandchildren, Brittany Tanner, John Tanner, Gara Beth Self, Laura Hogue, and Landon Crumpton all of New Albany.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Wayne Thompson and Larry Thompson.
Pallbearers were Johnny Thompson, Gerald Thompson, Michael Thompson, David Thompson, Jim Thompson, and Chad Hill.
Honorary pallbearers were John Tanner, Landon Crumpton and Chandler Thompson.

Louis Golding, 88
Louis Lee Golding, 88, of Blue Springs, died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. He was born April 5, 1921, in Union County, to the late Clarence Golding and Lena Brandon Golding. He was a veteran of World War 2 having served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired farmer, and night watchman for Barclay Furniture. He was an active member of the New Harmony Baptist Church.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at New Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Nail officiating. Interment was in the New Harmony Cemetery. United Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years Loris Clayton Golding of Blue Springs; a daughter Martha Kennedy (Hoyle) of New Albany; a son Kenneth Golding (Gail) of Blue Springs; a sister Ernestine Moorman of Pontotoc; 5 grandchildren: Mark Golding (Sandra) of New Albany, Patti Spencer (Joe) of New Albany, Deana Olson (Brian) of New Albany, Brad Kennedy (Cathy) of Blue Springs, and Andy Kennedy (Katie) of Decatur, GA.; 10 great grandchildren; Tony, Tanner, and Tristan Golding, Hanna Grace Spencer, Kyle and Kenley Olson, Anna, David, Maggie, and Claire Kennedy, and Brandi Greer, Colten, Calli, and Caleb Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Lois Easley, and 3 brothers Herman Golding, Harold Golding, and Billy Golding
Pallbearers were Mark Golding, Brad Kennedy, Andy Kennedy, Joe Spencer, Brian Olson, Tony Golding, Tanner Golding, and Kyle Olson. Honorary pallbearers were great grandchildren.
Visitation was Monday, July 13, 2009, at United Funeral Service from 5 until 9 p.m.

Nellie Bruce, 79
Mrs. Nellie June Ruby Bruce, 79, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2009 at her home in Oxford. She was born in Memphis Tennessee on April 2, 1930.
The funeral service was Monday, July 13, 2009 at noon at Waller Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Ervin officiating. Interment was at Philadelphia Cemetery in Etta.
Mrs. Bruce is the widow of Winford Walter Bruce and a member of Temple Heights Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter Kay Bruce of Oxford; three sons Tommy Bruce of Oxford, Winford Bruce of Olive Branch and Larry Bruce of Germany, and is also survived by her six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Visitation was Monday from 11 a.m. until noon prior to the service.

Willie Gaines, 80
Willie Vance gWancy h Gaines, 80, died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Community Hospice in Verona, MS. She was born August 9, 1928 in Union County, MS to the late Dewey and Amy Cox Jackson. She was retried from Ertel Mfg. and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at United Funeral Service with Dr. Robert Daniel and Rev. David Laman officiating. Interment was in Glenfield Memorial Park in New Albany. United Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur Charles Gaines of New Albany; 1 son, Bill Gaines of Olive Branch; 1 Daughter-in-law, Cindy Gaines of Tupelo; 3 grandchildren: Casey Contreras, Treva Billingsley (John) and Seth Gaines (Jenny).; six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Johnny Frank Gaines, one sister and five brothers.
Visitation was from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2009.

Murdice Dewayne “Pete” McWhorter, 56, of Blue Springs, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was a member of Red Hill M.B. Church.
Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Red Hill M.B. Church with Pastor Willie Bogan officiating with interment in the church cemetery. Beasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangments.
Survivors include two brothes Bora McWhorter and the Rev. Marvin McWhorter of Blue Springs, MS, two sisters Annie Hiler of Flint, MI., and Verline Bedford (Joe) of Racine, WI., three sisters-in-law Barbara, Jennette and Maggie all of Ohio.
Visitation was Friday, July 10, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and family hour from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
The body was placed in the church one hour prior to service.
Pearl Carwyle, 90
Pearl D. Carwyle, 90, of Pontiac, Ill., formerly of Pontotoc, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at OSF St. James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac, Ill. She was born March 3, 1919, in Ingomar to Baron and Ella Armstrong Dillard. She married Roy E. Carwyle on Sep. 9, 1939, in Ingomar. She was educated in Ingomar and retired after 15 years from Richard-Wilcox Company in Aurora, Ill.
Services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Thaxton Baptist Church with interment in the Thaxton Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home of Pontotoc was in charge of local arrangements.
Survivors include her son, Rickey Carwyle (Candice) of Pontiac, Ill.; one daughter, Peggy Burgess (LeRoy) of Norway, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son in infancy; one daughter, Betty Fike; seven brothers; three sisters; and one granddaughter, Tammy Fike.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
