Ingomar dominates Jaguars

Ingomar had no problems advancing to the second round of the 1A state playoffs last Friday, as they downed Shelby Broad Street, 14-0 and 15-0.

In game one, there was no surprise, as Falcon senior Josh Hodges torched the Jaguars on the mound, pitching a perfect game while striking out 16 of 18 batters.

The Falcons offense got off to a slow start, as they had three runs in the first two innings, highlighted by a two-run bomb in the first by Hodges that scored Preston Broom, who reached earlier on a single. Hodges’ 10th home run of the season goes with his perfect 10-0 pitching record.

Clay Kidd started the fourth inning with one of his two triples, and was later plated, cappingĀ  a four-run inning for Ingomar.

The Falcons would add seven more runs in the sixth, including a home run by Austin Gregory with two outs.

Broom had similar results for the Falcons on the mound in game two, as he struck out eight of nine batters to shut out the Jags in Ingomar’s win.

Five Falcon batters were walked in the first inning, and the bottom frame was highlighted by a two-run shot by Broom.

Broom also had a double in the first to have multiple hits for the game.

Ingomar scored seven more runs in the second, ending the game after only three innings.

Ingomar will next face Falkner in the second round this weekend.
