I hope everyone’s had a great week!! We have some new additions to our school! We have added two student teachers into all the chaos here at NAMS. Brittney Cloyd and Rebecca Moore are from Blue Mountain College and will be with us this semester! Rebecca Moore will be with Mrs. Leanne George in 8th grade English, and Brittney Cloyd will be with Mrs. Heather Linville in 7th grade English. I hope that everyone has welcomed them into our school!
Speaking of English, Mrs. George’s classes all drew a holiday themed picture using punctuation marks and symbols. Students voted on their favorite pictures which were displayed in her classroom. 1st-4th place and honorable mention awards were given. They got to choose from a variety of prizes including backpacks, pillows, books, stuffed animals, school supplies, and other various items. That just showed me that we have unexpected creativity everywhere in our school!
Both of our NAMS Bullpup teams won 2nd place in the Union County Tournament. We had a pep rally, led by the cheerleaders of course, in which they presented flowers to their coaches and sponsors Mrs. Carr and Mrs. Turner. The cheerleaders also performed their Home Pom routine and the Hot Bed Classic. In other sports the NA soccer team is preparing for the playoffs! The softball team had a pancake breakfast Saturday the 24th.
The Union County Spelling Bee was Monday the 26th -I’ll let you know of those results later. The 8th graders took an ACT preparation test called the EXPLORE that’s supposed to help them know how they might do on the actual ACT and to give them more practice. All the students who had their 10 AR points for both 9 weeks went to the Movie to see Paul Blart: Mall Cop and had a great time! Be sure to get your 10 points every 9 weeks!
Don’t forget about FCA every Wednesday in the Chorus room! I’d like to talk to you this week about my pet peeve: cursing and yes that most definitely includes using the Lord’s name in vain. I really dislike it when people do it. I think it sounds trashy, and if you were around most people and you cussed, then went around saying you’re a Christian, it would take me a lot longer to believe you then someone who never cusses or does anything like that. I know we’d all like to think that we’re not judgmental of people in that sense but everyone is! We can help it though. Just be mindful of the things you say and do. Sometimes actions speak louder than words, so please, please be aware that someone is always watching what you do at school, or in your neighborhood. You could drastically change a person’s life by the way you act. They could start acting like you…is that a good thing or a bad thing? It’s different to everyone.
I have a verse that I think would go well with this: the first one is Exodus 20: 7 “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses His name.”
